Megans Quilt, The Beginnings

Today I start my new project. Megan’s quilt. I am so excited about this design, because it brings together new techniques and fun appliqués! As I read over the pattern it dawned on me that I really do not know as much as I would like to!

Her fabric is all washed and ironed! Folded on my couch waiting for me to begin cutting, stitching, fusing and piecing. The pattern Megan has chosen is "Bloom" created by Thimble Bloosm.

As you can see I have an awesome task ahead of me! I finally get to use some of the wonderful techniques I was able to learn in my quilting class last spring. Ideas such as appliquéing a bunch of circles down the center or even a flower garden across the bottom.

As I start this process of continuing my quilting education I have a goal set in my mind. I don’t want to be famous or even well know in the community. I simply want to quilt. I want to provide friends and family members with quilted warmth that they will cherish and pass on to their children, and so on down the line until the story is not about "my grandmothers friend Kacey made this for her in 2011 or my granddaughter made this for me." No what I think is neat is the story of, "I think one of great grandmas friends made this; you can see the uniqueness in the pattern that it was not mass produced." Something that will last for generations and provide someone of memories of grandma’s house once grandma with the Lord.

So this new challenge of Megan’s Quilt is going to be full of new learning experiences for me. As I go on this journey I would love for you to follow my progress and maybe even answer some questions that I may have along the way!

Happy Seam Ripping!
